Obstetrics is the branch of medicine concerned with childbirth, caring for and treating women in or in connection with childbirth. Obstetrics involves care during pre-conception, pregnancy, childbirth, and immediately after delivery.
Some of the areas this course will touch upon are prenatal care, labor and delivery, neonatal care, symptoms, tests, as well as, an introduction to the various health professionals who provide Obstetrics care. We will also explore the cultural impact surrounding pregnancy and birth and interpreting pregnancy complications and loss.
