Interpreting in Palliative Care and Hospice Settings
Interpreting in Palliative Care and Hospice Settings

Language interpreters play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between individuals who speak different languages. When it comes to interpreting end-of-life subject matter, such as discussions about palliative care, advanced directives, or medical decisions, it requires special sensitivity and skills. In this module students will become familiar with the medical terminology involved in end-of-life and palliative care.  We will also look at the cultural beliefs surrounding end-of-life decisions, and considerations for you, as the interpreter, when interpreting end-of-life subject matter.
