Fundamentals of Interpreting

In this module, students will be introduced to the challenging field of interpreting. We will explore the difference between simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, and how each method is used in the triadic encounter.  We will discuss the importance of rate of speech, pronunciation, and presenting oneself professionally.  We will also discuss the best practices and protocols  involved when introducing oneself to the other parties, and where the interpreter should place themselves while interpreting to ensure effective communication and cultural appropriateness.
