The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs. It is made up mainly of lymph vessels, lymph nodes and lymph. Lymph vessels, which are different from blood vessels, carry fluid called lymph throughout your body. The lymphatic system plays a prominent role in immune function along with other important functions. In this module, students will learn the structure and function of the lymphatic system, and the diseases, such as cancer, that affect the lymphatic system. We will also discuss the immune system and the role the lymphatic system plays when defending the body against pathogens.
